  • Our knowledge in topics of the XylVec project has already been usefully applied within the Expert Working Group of the European Plant Protection Organization (EPPO), where we participated in the creation of a diagnostic protocol for determination of the bacterium Xylella fastidiosa.
  • The protocol is an international diagnostic protocol published within the standards of the European regional plant protection organization (EPPO).
  • In addition to the commendation received from EPPO for our work it increased the visibility of the Slovenian researchers and national research in Slovenia. The developed protocol is the basis for improved methods of detecting X. fastidiosa within the ongoing project.
  • A common protocol enables harmonization of diagnostic laboratories and comparability of results between countries.

  • Available in the EPPO Database on Diagnostic Expertise under section Validation data for diagnostic tests.
  • Bacterium Xylella fastidiosa infects a high number of different plants. Its diagnostics is performed on olives, grapevine, stone fruits, oleander, rosemary, lavender,.. and on its insect vectors. In this publication, we have reported on our experiments on the performance of real-time PCR in a number of different samples, generating data on its analytical and diagnostic sensitivity.
