At the Department of Genetic Toxicology, Biotechnology and Systems Biology (GEN), we research processes that are important for human health and the environment. Visitors will be able to learn about cyanobacteria in Slovenian waters and their toxins, and find out how scientists study their effects on living organisms. Some species of cyanobacteria produce toxins that play an important role in the development of cancer. We will also present cancer research in which we use brain and lung cancer tumour avatars to study tumour growth, their complex structure, and their response to treatment. Visitors will also be able to view cancer cells under the microscope.
