The KRKA Novo mesto Chess Club and Rudolfovo – Science and Technology Centre Novo mesto invite you to a Chess960 tournament, which will take place on Friday, 25 September 2026, at the Miran Jarc Library in Novo mesto. Chess960 follows the rules of classical chess but uses a random starting position, encouraging creative thinking and play without relying on memorised openings.
The free tournament is open to players of all ages and skill levels, from beginners and chess enthusiasts to experienced competitors. Nine rounds of blitz chess are planned, with a new starting position drawn for each round. The most exciting games will also be broadcast live on Chess.com and Lichess.org.
