Nimble on our feet, together with pupils of Lovrenc na Pohorju Primary School we explored the remarkable nature of Pohorje and its rhythms of life on the second anniversary of the establishment of the Pohorje Regional Park. An engaging interpretive tour led by experts from the Pohorje Regional Park of the Institute of the Republic of Slovenia for Nature Conservation took place during our wanderings through forests, meadows, and along trails that wind through the delicate world of the Pohorje marshes! We set out from “Mašon žaga,” made our way all the way to the Lovrenc Lakes, and then on to Rogla. We discovered the diverse geological treasures revealed during our walks through the expanses of Pohorje, as well as the area’s most valuable nature conservation sites, protected as Slovenia’s fourth regional park. We reinforced our knowledge at the Pohorje Nature Interpretation Center at Rogla, where, among other things, the area’s rich mythological heritage was brought to life for the children.
