The main objectives of EVADE project are to address the influence of environmental factors to bacteriophage susceptibility of plant pathogenic bacteria, and to evaluate enzymatic activity of bacteriophage tail spike protein for bacteria recognition. To the best of our knowledge, this will be the first comprehensive study on Podoviridae bacteriophages active against plant pathogenic bacteria, addressing the influence of environmental factors on bacteria-bacteriophage interaction. Moreover, obtained results will provide a base of the essential knowledge of a complex relationship between bacteria, bacteriophages and their environment. Understanding this complex system is essential for successful application of bacteriophages in any agricultural setting.
