WP3: Verification, transferability and validation studies

Workpackage leader: Marco Mazzara, JRC-IHCP

Inter-laboratory validation studies will be organized allowing the validation of detection methods developed by the partners of the project and specific for genetic elements common to several genetically modified products. As a result, reliable and validated detection methods will be made available at the global level, including their submission to ISO to become international standards. This will allow closing gaps that currently exist in the portfolio of validated methods suitable for official control of GMOs.

The WP3 is lead by IHCP, who has great expertise in method assessment and validation as an European Union Reference Laboratory for Genetically Modified Food and Feed (EURL-GMFF; http://gmo-crl.jrc.ec.europa.eu/). The IHCP is one of the seven scientific institutes of the European Commission's Joint Research Centre (JRC; http://ec.europa.eu/dgs/jrc).

Project GMOVal

The central aim of the project is to make available to the GMO laboratories community new validated real-time PCR screening methods for an improved GMO detection via the implementation of the matrix approach.
